The Cave

Asher has moved most of the contents of the toy box house to his new cave/book clubhouse.  Including his father.

He made sure to bring lots of toys for his sister as well.
He thinks that instead of going to school, he would prefer to just spend his days here.

Finger Food

Kiera loves food she can pick up with her finger, so pureed baby food is a bit of a downer for her.

But no more!  She has come up with a solution.  A perfect way to make even pureed food into finger food!

As soon as you spoon the food into her mouth, she just sticks out her tongue and grabs the food in her hands.
Kiera, practicing her tongue out technique.

That way she can play with it as much as she likes.
"More food!"

Clever girl.
"What are you talking about "a disgrace to babies everywhere?"
I'm a hero!"
Oh, and she's also getting better at taking off her bib and throwing it off to the side.

How could I have forgotten!

In my previous post on Kiera's favorite things, how could I have forgotten one of her very favorite things?  Taking things out of containers.  You know, toys from toy boxes.  Laundry.  Tupperware.

Even dishes.

Okay, not dishes.  YET.  But she would if she could.

She also loves pancakes.  I mean loves pancakes.  It's kinda like the first time Asher had pho.

Where are my pancakes!

Get me more pancakes!

Did you know....

One of the things I love, love, love right now is when Asher starts a sentence with “Did you know that…”

What follows can generally be put in one of three categories.
1) The largest category is run of the mill interesting information he’s picked up
2) The second category is impressive random knowledge that I had no idea that he knew, and
3) the third category are statements that make me go “What the?!?”

Falling in the third category is yesterday’s comment to our neighbor Judy.

After several “Did you know” comments falling in the first category, he threw out “Did you know that seahorses don’t have eyes!”
Huh.  No.  I can't say that I knew that.

But clearly all those visits to the Virginia Living Museum are paying off.

I also just love his manner of giving these statements.  Sometimes they are given in a conspiratorial whisper, and sometimes with an authoritative grandesse.

A few of Kiera's favorite things

This photo of Kiera, reminded me so much of this photo of Asher.  And when I found that post, I also came across this old post.

Which then made me think perhaps I should list out a few of Kiera's favorite games and things.

Like her brother, Kiera loves shoes and cheerios.  Kiera loves pretty much all food though.

The little puppet dog in the video below is one of Kiera's favorite things.  Technically it belongs to Asher - our neighbor gave it to him as a "big brother" gift when Kiera was born - but so far it's Kiera that truly loves it.

One of her other favorite things?
That mechanical doggy that Asher gave her for Christmas this year.  She still absolutely adores that thing and laughs every time it barks at her.

And balls?  Which kept Asher endlessly fascinated and happy as a baby?  Eh.  Not so much.  She can take em or leave em.  And (so far) she does not share the obsession that Asher held for remotes or electronics, but that might still be just a matter of time.

But really, she doesn't seem to have a strong love for objects the way that Asher did.  I think it's because she has something much bigger and more interesting to hold her interest - a brother.

February in Review Part IV

Asher loves his sister's stuff.  Even her car seat.

Big eyes.

First time making bread with the new bread maker
Is it ready yet?  How about now?  Is it ready?

a really big sandwich from the bread from the bread maker.

Snuggling with Nana before she leaves on her trip to Texas.

Leap day only happens once every four years,
it's worth some fashion adventures wouldn't you say?
(Yup, it was his idea to put his sweater on his legs and his
jeans on his head)

February also had some of the most wonderful videos - Asher and Kiera playing together in her crib, jumping together on their jumperoos/trampolines, Asher doing flips over his Dad's arms, Kiera and Asher doing her little tongue-lip flick, Asher jumping on the bed...There were a lot of wonderful ones, I will try to go back and post links to some of the best.  In the meantime, here is one that I love.

February in Review Part III - Is that it?

Here are photos from this winter's second snow day.

Which was ideally timed since it was on a Monday that daycare was closed anyway (for a faculty day) so the kids were staying at home anyway.

But I'm just wondering, is that it?  Is that really it for winter?  I mean, don't get me wrong, I am no fan of the cold so I am not complaining.  I'm just a little amazed.  I almost feel like we skipped over winter this year.
Heh.  I have a snowball.

Heh heh.  more snowballs!
The snow got slushy and melty pretty quickly so we headed over to the VLM.
And managed to run into our neighbors.  Hey neighbor.

Don't limit me.  I can be both if I put my mind to it.

Asher's been wanting to camp out.  I wonder if this will satisfy his desire?
We lucked out - it was the last day of the reptile exhibit!

February in Review Part II

It was our first time at WISC for a birthday party and it was SO MUCH FUN!

Ummmm....I think that's just for the kids Deenesh.

Watching the indoor soccer players after the party.
I know, I already posted the photos of them sleeping in the car after the party.  But I figured pictures of sleeping children were worth posting a second time.

February in Review Part I

Awesome face, right?  Want a closer look?

Auugghh!

Thank goodness this was properly labeled,
"Asher's pizza cutter" otherwise I might have
mistaken it for trash and been in big trouble.

I have no idea what's going on here, but doesn't it look like
I'm gesturing Deenesh to come closer for a fight?

Adorable baby napping pose

Asher got to go on the school Fun Bus for the first time!

Sick.

Valentine's for the teachers!

This is Kiera working on her "drunken sailor" pose

Can you believe Asher is now large enough for a booster seat?
It also means he can now ride in the BMW.  Now that he has a taste
of the high life, he says he wants to ride in it all the time.

This was shortly after I discovered Kiera's first tooth.
She was not cooperating with letting me get a photo of it.
(Don't you LOVE love love! her shirt?
I'll tell you more about it later)

Jumping together.  Kiera LOVES it when Asher jumps on his
trampoline when she is in her jumperoo.
