Phone Photo Extravaganza Part II

Oh, you thought that was all the photos.  No, no no.  Those were 2011.  These are 2012.

Yes, there are a lot of photos of Kiera, and very few of Asher.  The only reason I can think of is because if Deenesh takes Asher out he takes the camera, and so I use my phone camera for Kiera.  And perhaps Asher doesn't stay still long enough for the phone camera.  And that Kiera will burst into tears if I walk away to get the camera whereas the phone is usually conveniently close.

Okay, here goes.

Eating can be a messy business.  But oh so fun!  (Did I mention I've even made her baby food?  Well, a couple times anyway.  And yes, by that I mean twice).

Kiera at her daycare.  Looks like a fun place, right?
It even has a ball pit.
What's she doing?  sticking that ball in her mouth.  Yeah, I can't imagine why we spent so much time at the doctor's this year...
But she looks happy right?  Other than not wanting to eat or sleep when she's at school she adjusted pretty well.  And now she eats when she's there.  But she still doesn't sleep.
 She likes to eat.
 And to jump.
 Home ball pit!
Look at the static in her hair!
I know, adorable hat right?  So why is she always trying to take it off?
 More ball pit!
 Bath time!
At the time I took this photo I was crazy impressed by how much she was lifting her body up!  Now that she's a crawler, eh.  Whatever.
Asher's second dentist visit.  He looks upset doesn't he?  He's really just trying to get a better view of the TV on the ceiling.
Darn dentist saw us so fast that Asher didn't get anytime in the waiting room.  So we stuck around for a while after the visit.  Yeah.  You read that right.  We stayed in the waiting room after the visit was over.  Sheesh.
She looks like this.  A lot.  Except then she takes the hat off.
See!  I do have some photos of Asher!
Oh, look at that.  We are back at the doctor's office.
And now a visit for Asher.
And some sick day time at home with Asher.  (I built, he knocked it over.  It was great.)
I don't know.  I think she was just being cute and needed a picture taken.
End of the day stroll.  Beautiful winter we've been having.  Lovely weather.

It's a Kiera cave!
And the cave is gone.  Fun times on the playmat.

And yes, we are back at the doctor.  I've gotten smarter.  Note I remembered to bring her favorite toy (barking doggy) and snacks.

Hanging out with Nana.  We spend a lot of time with her and yet I don't seem to take a lot of photos when we are with her.
Back at the beach.  Not sure why she looks grumpy, she really likes the little girl in the hat and was having a wonderful day.

She's cute.  She needs a lot of photos of her cuteness.
DINOSAUR HUNTING!  Yeah, it's become a big deal.  We haven't found any yet, but we know there's a big friendly dinosaur living in these woods so we keep looking.
I already wrote about the awesomeness of Tara's birthday.  There was snow.

And Kiera learned how to cruise.

Oh yeah.  The stomach flu.  Luckily it skipped Kiera but the rest of us were not so lucky.  And Kiera got to stay home that day b/c neither Deenesh nor I could muster the strength to drive her to school.  This photo of Asher was when he said he was done sleeping and went out to the living room.  Before he could turn on the TV, he fell asleep again.
Asher sleeping again, but this time for a good reason.  An awesome birthday party where he got a really good workout.
Kiera fell asleep too.  Watching all those kids play was a lot of work!
More dinosaur hunting.  No more goggles, but now we have boots and gloves.
Asher and I love dinosaur hunting!
 "Come heeeeeeere horsies!!"
Kiera's chair.  And we are up to date! Yay!

Helpful

Oh boy.  The "helpfulness" that comes with a crawling/mobile baby has already started.  Save us!

Found!

Guess what we found!

No, we didn’t lose Kiera and find her again.   Look Closer.

Closer.

Okay, fine. Still can’t see it?  I’ll tell you.

Kiera got her first tooth!!  It is barely a speck but it is there and it has broken the surface.

Deenesh and Asher were out when I discovered it* so I texted them to let them know the good news.  A couple hours later when they got home Asher got out of the car and was saying “Congratulations Kiera!” over and over again.  Since it had been a while I didn’t know what he was talking about until he started prying her mouth open to get a look.

He was very disappointed he couldn’t see it, but after he washed his hands we let him feel it and he was suitably excited for her.

It’s been a long wait.

Personally, I think her hearing me tell Asher that she couldn’t have any jelly beans because she didn’t have any teeth may have been just the incentive she needed to get moving on the teeth production.

* We discovered it on Feb 17 but didn't manage to get a photo that showed the teeth until yesterday.  Yes you CAN see the tooth in the above photo!  Look again!  I promise you, there are even TWO of them now.

Phone Photo Extravaganza

So my cell phone is internet capable, but not internet enabled.

Which means it's a big pain in the ....behind, to get the photos off of my camera.

As a result, I only do it once every several months.

Today was that day.

So here it is, your cell phone photo extravaganza.

This is the background on my camera

Foot tastes yummy!

Hanging out with the neighbors during Hela's visit

 Skyping with the Texas Peters

Okay, brace yourself for cuteness overload!

Bham!  I wasn't kidding about cuteness overload.
Doctor's visit.  We spent a lot of time at the doctor's office in December.  and January. and February.  A lot.
Oh yeah.  I'm a tough baby and I am going to take you down.

Ha ha!  Just kidding.  I am cute and charming
even with a double ear infection.

 Christmas babies.
 Colonel's visit.

Z-pizza.  It was my first time going back since the night before Kiera's birth.  That's right, Z-pizza was my last meal before Kiera was born.

Asher just wants to watch the pizzas being made.

Kids/babies in a laundry basket.  Classic cute.

Children's Museum in portsmouth.  I really need to go back and do a whole blog post on it.  It was a great day.
After the roller derby - Kiera's toy snagged on the stroller.  I took a photo instead of helping.
Seriously Tracy.  PUT it down and help me out here!
 Beach photos.

Asher wanted to take a picture of his cool hat from his California cousins to send to his Aunt Tara.  He wanted the "biggest!" smile, but then didn't like any of the photos because his eyes were closed.
We finally went to the mirror to practice smiling and keeping your eyes open at the same time.  We are still working on it.

Big Day

She’d been practicing a lot, but mainly doing the wiggle, followed by a sit and roll.  But as of February 25 she is officially a crawler.  We were all just sitting around in the morning and Deenesh called me over and sure enough - she was suddenly no longer a just-sitting-baby but a crawling-baby.

And Asher, who  usually is quite happy to grab stuff out of her hand and abscond, has become her biggest defender.  Every time Deenesh or I take something to try to entice her to crawl, he instantly rescues it and brings it back to her.

(Yes, yes.  He totally knocks her down.  But look!  She's crawling!)

A side note – I find it fascinating the extent to which something as ubiquitous as a baby learning to crawl can feel so exciting and wondrous.  It’s so true of parenting in general – all those little moments, be they Kiera learning to crawl or Asher rushing into the room to share the new found knowledge “Did you know that dragonflies are born underwater!” – they all feel like amazing revelations at the same time that we know they are so completely commonplace.
